Zehavi creates perforated pieces with holes so perfect they seem to have been created with a surgical scalpel. The pieces undergo a lyrical transformation from functional items to artistic objects with highly spiritual and decorative attributes. Zehavi focuses on a single activity - perforation - which is usually associated with ventilation, filtration or mass reduction. Yet the intensive repetition of a single automatic act replaces the object's functionality as the central theme and terminates only when the entire format in which it is taking place is totally covered.

Represented by Duane Reed Gallery.

Michal’s work can be seen at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin.
